The Borg Queen and Locutus
The Borg Queen and Locutus

"The really great villains are the ones that you root for"  ~ Nicholas Meyer 'Wrath of Khan' Director

Every good story needs an evil villain to antagonize the hero and Star Trek sure has presented us with some of the greatest villains of all time. Cruel and vicious some of these Star Trek archenemies could give a person nightmares. But we love them, and why do we love them? Because their evil actions play an important part of the plot. It causes a conflict between the hero and villain either by fighting or by competition. Generally, the villain serves as an obstacle that the hero must struggle to overcome and a really great villain can transform a good try into a triumph. So let's take a look at some of the Star Trek villains that have evolved over the last 50 years.

This list is just some of the villains that have appeared on Star Trek antagonizing the Captains and their crews. We can only wonder what the new series has in store for us. Will these old archenemies make a new appearance or will they create a whole new species of Villains ?? The Borg have already crossed over into 2 series & the movie Generations, so they probably won't make an appearance on the new show. Let us know who your favorite Star Trek villain is and if you think they will make an appearance in the new Star Trek series.

  1. It would be nice if someone had the creative juices to have a new kind of villain that doesn't repeat copy cat the boring villains in today's sci-fi world. I like the line, really great villains are the ones you root for. I think the Borg to date has been played to death, but who doesn't relate?

  2. I agree. The Borg has been done too many times especially during Voyager. I too hope they can create a wicked villain that noone has seen yet. One that terrifies us LOL

  3. Gul Dukat from DS9 - for me, he's the best and most complex villain in all of Trek.

  4. Having a Villain maybe last the entire series Like Dukat was a good Idea he also wasn't always a villain per say, he had opportunities to grow. and maybe do like Once Upon a Time and have the villain go Hero would be great. It's kinda what Seven went through as well.
