RUMOR: Tony Todd on casting shortlist for new series.
Tony Todd: "CBS is doing their own series again... I'm on a very short [casting] list." David Ward: "Oh, so you're actually on the list for the series?"
Todd: "Yeah. I'm on the list for a couple [of shows]."
Ward: "Well, if you're in the series, I'll give it a chance - because there is not a lot of mention about [the prime or alternate timeline]."
Todd: "It’s a year away. They’re not even going to get official cast until, probably, the fourth quarter of the year. And my only concern about it is that it’s going to be that [CBS All Access] online thing; I don’t understand that part.
I’ve never done a series regular — I’ve always avoided it because I
like playing different characters — but this is one year that we’re
looking at some stuff, so I’m sure that we’re going to be popping up and
everybody’s going to move on on sometime very soon."
RUMOR: Angela Bassett as Captain and Rosario Dawson as 1st Officer

Bassett: “That’s thrilling! That’s very nice, but how am I going to do that and American Horror? How is that going to work? Oh my gosh, and raise twins?”

RUMOR: Attended Wondercon Los Angeles: New Series Info

Went to the panel with Ed Gross and Mark Altman. They interviewed Fuller for their new "Oral History" Trek book. Their interview with Fuller was about what he would do with Trek. The interview occurred before he was hired for the new show. After Fuller was attached to the project he called Altman and asked him not to include his interview as part of the book.
Altman did say this however....the new series will take place in a
universe we will all be "happy" with. And that they will keep the core
of Trek alive but show more conflict between characters. Something the
TNG Era took to the extreme by not showing any conflict. The new show
won't feel like a rehash on a rehash on a rehash....like TNG, to DS9, to
Voyager, to Enteprise felt.
Altman and Gross were both really really excited.

If "The Undiscovered Country" is to be a starting point then everyone has so far missed the obvious: This next incarnation will feature the Enterprise but with a new crew, as hinted by Kirk at the end of that movie. It will be 1701-A but with a new crew.
