RUMOR: New Trek Series to be set After TUC and Before TNG

New Star Trek Series Timeline somewhere inbetween The Undiscovered Country and The Next Generation
Rumor has it that the new Star Trek series will be set after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and before Star Trek: The Next Generation. This means the series will take place between Stardate 2293 and 2364. The time span separating Captain Kirk and Captain Picard hopefully keeping within the Prime Universe.

But this time period may only apply to Season 1 as the show is rumored to be a "Seasonal Anthology" meaning the time period will change from Season to Season which has never been done on any of the previous Star Trek series before.

While details of the new series have been quiet, one thing we do know for sure is that it will not be set in the re-booted JJ Universe. We'll keep you posted with more details as they come out.

    I wonder how this anthology will work out?? I read that Gene Roddenberry wanted to do an anthology like the Twilight Zone but ended up doing Star Trek instead.

    Keeping my fingers crossed that this rumour is BS. I don't want Trek bogged down in continuity. I want a new Trek where anything can happen.

    the more i think about every season being a different time the more i like it, i wouldn't want an entire show based on enterprise-b era but a season would be fun

    All things are possible with a seasonal anthology .. IMO its a great idea because if interest in a story-line starts dropping like it did with Enterprise, then they just have to wrap it up at the end of the season and start a fresh new tale for the next season. Hopefully saving it from getting cancelled AND also appeasing all the old & new Star Trek fans. It also opens the doors for lots of character reprisals.

    I THINK THIS HAS POSSIBLITIES! ALLOWING ORIGINALS LIKE SULU, CHEKOV <AND UHURA TO MAKE APPEARANCES IN ONE TIME PERIOD AND NEXT GENERATION CAST MEMBERS IN ANOTHER! I ALSO HOPE THEY MAKE A SEASON BASE ON THE ENTERPRISE B! BUT WITH A DIFFERENT CAPTAIN NOT THAT HARRIMAN LAST SHOWN IN STAR TREK GENERATIONS MOVIE! AND WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SULUS DAUGHTER DEMORA SULU MORE! AS WELL AS WHAT MISSIONS 1701 B AND ADVENTURES THIS SHIP WAS INVOLVED IN!

      Great idea!! they could really tie up some loose ends from the other series. they should do a season about all the Star Trek offspring :P
